Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs on our New Zealand Golf Tours

Q: What golf courses are included in your tours?

A: We take you to some of New Zealand’s best courses, like Jack’s Point, Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Te Arai, The Hills and Millbrook Resort. We’ll pick the courses that match your preferences so you get the best experience possible.

Q: What’s included in the tour price?

A: Our golf packages include green fees, premium accommodation, rental car or transport between courses, a selection of meals, and sightseeing tours. Option to include caddies and club rentals if needed.

Q: Are lessons or coaching available?

A: Yes, private coaching sessions with professional instructors can be arranged, perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to improve their game.

Q: Is transport between courses included?

A: Our privately guided golf tours include all ground transportation throughout your stay in New Zealand. Meanwhile, our independent golf tours include a premium rental car. Domestic flights are not included in the tours due to frequent price fluctuations; however, we are happy to book these for you. We can also arrange helicopter or shuttle transfers between golf courses where available.

Q: Can I combine golf with sightseeing?

A: Yes! Many of our tours include world-class golf plus sightseeing, like winery tours, scenic cruises, scenic flights, and cultural experiences.

FAQs on golf in New Zealand

Q: What is the most beautiful golf course in New Zealand?

A: Kauri Cliffs (coastal scenery) and Jack’s Point (mountain scenery) are two of the most beautiful golf courses in New Zealand. However, each of the marquee courses in our tours offers spectacular views.

Q: What is the hardest golf course in New Zealand?

A: Kinloch Club on the North Island is considered the most challenging golf course in New Zealand. Located near Taupo, Kinloch Club is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in the country.

Q: How long is the ideal New Zealand golf tour?

A: We recommend between 7 and 14 days if you’re aiming to play the best golf courses on both islands. A 7-day tour will include flights between most golf destinations, while a longer tour allows for scenic drives.

Q: When is the best time of year to play golf in New Zealand?

A: The best months are October through April, when the weather is mild and courses are in great condition. Winter months are cooler but still playable in many areas, especially on the North Island.

Q: If I want to visit just one island, which do you recommend?

A: The North Island is home to some of New Zealand’s most celebrated golf courses, including Cape Kidnappers, Te Arai, Kauri Cliffs, and Kinloch. However, these are spread apart, with longer travel times between each. For a shorter holiday with less travel time, Queenstown on the South Island offers a selection of world-class golf courses including Jack’s Point, The Hills, and Millbrook.

FAQs on New Zealand travel

Q: Are your tours suitable for international visitors?

A: Yes! We handle all the logistics—transport, accommodation, and course bookings—so international visitors can enjoy a stress-free experience.

Q: What airport will I fly into when I book flights to New Zealand?

A: Auckland is main international airport in New Zealand, and many of our golf tours start in Auckland. If you are doing a South Island tour, there are also international flights into Christchurch and Queenstown. Or you may end up with a domestic connection between Auckland and another airport.

Q: Do I need to bring cash for my visit to New Zealand?

A: Almost all places in New Zealand accept credit or debit card payments, so you don’t need to bring cash. Visa or Mastercard are the best options as American Express is not always accepted. Credit cards (rather than debit cards) are recommended if you are renting a car since a security bond is held on your card for the duration of the rental.

Q: What is the weather like in New Zealand?

A: Our weather is typically mild year-round. We do get warmer days in summer and colder days in winter, but you’ll want to be prepared for a range of temperatures no matter the season.

FAQs on booking our golf tours

Q: How far in advance should I book a tour?

A: We recommend booking at least 6-12 months ahead to ensure your preferred dates and accommodations are available. For the peak summer season from mid-December through the end of March, we recommend booking 12+ months in advance.

Q: How do I book a tour?

A: It’s easy! You can contact us via the Quick Enquiry form on our website for a quote. Otherwise, reach out by email (info@newzealandgolftours.com) or phone (+64 3 443 2111) to begin planning your customised golf tour.

Q: Can you accommodate dietary needs or special requests?

A: Definitely. Just let us know at the time of booking, and we’ll make arrangements for dietary requirements, accessibility, or any other special requests.

Q: Can beginners book a golf tour?

A: Yes! We cater to all skill levels. Your golf consultant can suggest courses and tee times that are perfect for beginners, intermediate players, or advanced golfers.

Q: What’s your cancellation policy?

A: You can refer to our cancellation policy here, ultimately we would like the best possible outcome for you and also offer the ability to transfer to new dates instead of cancelling altogether.

FAQs on private golf tours

Q: Can I book a private or customised golf tour?

A: Absolutely! All of our tours are private, and we can tailor any itinerary to suit your preferences. We can customise the length of travel, the golf courses, the level of accommodation, the activities included, and the mode of transport.

Q: How many people can join a tour?

A: We can accommodate groups of all sizes when you travel with a private guide. Groups of up to 12 players can usually book the golf tours as advertised on our website, while larger groups may need to stay in different accommodation.

Q: Can I book a corporate or incentive golf tour?

A: Yes! We specialize in corporate trips, team-building events, and incentive trips, with options for luxury accommodations and exclusive experiences.
